Photo Friday

I started this Photo Friday series as a way to hold myself accountable for practicing a skill I want to become better at. After a long day it’s easy to crawl into bed and flip on the TV or catch up on Facebook, but when I make a commitment to myself, I can never fully relax until it’s completed.

So on the spur of the moment Tuesday evening with 30 minutes of daylight remaining, I grabbed my camera and headed down the street to see what I could capture.

We came across a farm and immediately, three horses ran up to the fence and stayed beside us the entire time.

This is now one of my all time favorite shoots… and these images wouldn’t exist without Photo Fridays.

IMG_7290As the sun began to dip below the horizon we found an open field to capture the last bit of light…

With every season that passes, I appreciate the beauty of this place I call home more and more.

But I still take every chance I can to get out and explore. Last weekend we road tripped to wine country for a girls canoeing & camping adventure on the Russian River.

Love my girl time!

Now let’s see what you’ve been up to! Here are some of my favorite instagram moments you tagged with #jsphotofriday…

Can’t get enough of the layers in this room—shiplap, subway tile, black mantel and beautiful gray built-ins. Bravo, @houseonbroad.

@classicnestinteriors used my favorite sconces in her dining room with stunning results!

And @irisnacole nailed the summer vibe with her fireplace mantel. Digging the large fern leaves and gold accents.

Now it’s your turn… play along with me on instagram by tagging your best photos of the week with #jsphotofridays and I’ll share my favorites!

On that note… I’d like to put out a request to the keepers of weather and time—can we slow this summer down a bit? I’m already hearing chatter of back to school and need the F word to stay out of my vocabulary for a while (ahem, that’s Fall).

For now, I’ll continue to enjoy the sunshine and live in this moment. Life is grand.

  1. Hi Jenna

I normally read you on bloglovin but in the last week or so a new ad keeps popping up for a money saving website to do with Tesco (I’m in the UK). You can’t read around the ad and the only way to get rid of it is to click it which immediately takes you to an ad website and won’t let me back to your article. It’s really annoying and I’m starting to skip your blogs because it happens every time. Can you fix it? It doesn’t happen if I come to your website direct and it doesn’t happen on bloglovin for any other blogs I read.

    1. That is very strange! It doesn’t do it for me and I don’t use or allow pop up ads so I’m thinking it’s an issue with Bloglovin. I’d contact them — hopefully it can be resolved soon!

  2. Jenna, I’m in awe over those beautiful photos you took! I have been a horse lover all my life. Growing up a small town where fields were common, we saddled up, and road horses every weekend for fun. I miss those days! Thank you for bringing back those memories with your beautiful captures, and thank you for sharing my mantel with your friends. I truly appreciate it!

  3. Lovely photos!!… it is just nice to do this spur of the movement, to capture some beautiful times of the day, the sun photos on the field were lovely as well.
