These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind and I’ve found myself trying to balance work, life responsibilities and new adventures… with the adventures definitely winning out 🙂 You’re only young(ish) once—right? Taking full advantage of the beautiful summer weather here in California.
Last Friday I was on my way to LA and I skipped my normal post, so here’s some shots from the last couple weeks. Starting with Independence Day at the river…
I love where I live. Now more than ever before.
But it’s nice to get away sometimes. I haven’t been to southern California since we moved away from it five years ago! It’s only a five hour drive so I hit the road Friday morning for a much needed long weekend with old friends…
The weather was a perfectly sunny 80* so we hiked up one of our old favorite spots (locals may recognize Runyon Canyon!)
Then I stayed with a friend in Ventura (where I went to college) right on the harbor. We drank champagne and went paddle boarding and sunbathed on the deck. It was the perfect finale to possibly my favorite weekend of the year.
It’s amazing how much the scenery can change in a matter of hours. One moment it’s water and palm trees, then mountains, grassy farmland, and suddenly you’re in a barren desert.
Driving up the middle of California is probably the most uneventful route in the state, but nothing a good playlist can’t fix—and I still managed to capture a few moments once I got closer to my mountains.
Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into my life lately. There’s been some transitions happening… I can’t say too much yet, but you can expect to see more personal posts in the future. (Sorry to leave you hanging!)
But first I have a little boy’s room to finish! More on that next week… now get out there and enjoy your weekend!
